Public Health Scholarship Opportunities

Undergraduate Students

C. Jessie Jones. Lifespan Wellness Fellowship ($1,000)
This fellowship was established by Professors Emeriti C. Jessie Jones and Roberta Rikli to promote the engagement of undergraduate students in high-impact health promotion practices that improve the health of underserved communities.

Iran Navaie Community Service Scholarship ($250)
This scholarship is in honor of a beloved mother and grandmother and is presented to an undergraduate student to provide financial assistance for academic excellence and outstanding leadership and community service qualities.

Graduate Students

Marie Kalmantis Public Health Memorial Scholarship ($250)
This scholarship was established by the Public Health Department to honor the memory of Marie Kalmantis, a former Master of Public Health (MPH) graduate student who passed away.

Walter R. Duhn Public Health Community Engagement Scholarship ($1,000-$2,500)
This scholarship was established and funded by an anonymous donor to honor Walter R. Duhn by assisting graduate students in their academic journey within the Department of Public Health. The scholarship is intended for students who have demonstrated civic engagement in diverse communities.

Undergraduate and Graduate Students

Drs. Leslie and Dick Richards Endowment Achievement Scholarship ($2,500)
This scholarship was endowed by Drs. Leslie and Dick Richards of Anaheim, CA, and is awarded to students to assist them in meeting educational expenses.

Kathryn T McCarty Scholarship ($500)
This scholarship was established by the Public Health Department in honor of benefactor Kay T. McCarty to honor scholastic achievement and outstanding research ability.

Steve Hanson Memorial Scholarship ($500)
This scholarship was established to honor the life and legacy of Mr. Steve Hanson, an energetic, focused, and positive Sales Safety Professional who was committed to helping others.

Awards

Public Health Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award ($250). This award was established by the Public Health Department to recognize outstanding academic achievement, community/university service, and professional promise.

Public Health Outstanding Graduate Student Award ($250). This award was established by the Public Health Department to recognize outstanding academic achievement, community/university service, and professional promise.

Public Health Department Service Award ($250). This award is funded by the Titan Shops and administered by the Public Health Department.

Public Health Academic Achievement Award ($25). This award is funded by the Titan Shops and administered by the Public Health Department.

Jeff Fortuna Award ($500). This award was established to honor the many contributions of Jeff Fortuna, an exemplary and beloved lecturer in the Department of Public Health who dedicated his career to the prevention and treatment of substance use.
