Internships
In partnership with the CSUF Center for Internships and Community Engagement (CICE), the Department of Public Health has established a database of over 1200 internship opportunities. Every year (spring, summer, and fall) we place approximately 500 students in health-related internship positions across Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. Undergraduate students complete 120 hours at their internship site, two professional development workshops through CSUF Career Center, regular updates with their faculty adviser/instructor, and a final portfolio highlighting their work and accomplishments. As a required course for all Public Health majors, this hands-on experience provides students the ability to apply concepts learned in the classroom to the health field. In addition, it assists them in developing and solidifying career interests and goals.
Public Health graduate (MPH) students are also required to complete an internship course; however, their internship tasks, duties, and objectives are created in relation to specific criterion per Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation standards.
