President and founder of Personal Wellness Corporation, a California based international wellness consulting firm to corporations and health facilities; Assisted in the creation of "Project Sozo" developed to effectively increase physical activity among youth ages 7-18 through a non-school based setting using various fitness and nutrition interventions; Currently working on a new book with best selling author, Dr. William Sears, entilted, "L.E.A.N. Kids" to be released June 2003, published by Penguin Books; Proud father of 2 children, Joel and Brooke; Married to his high school sweetheart Joanne for over 13 years; Resides in Placentia, California where he serves as assistant little league coach and junior All-American football coach.

Bruce Hird (bruceh@boysgirlsclubbuenapark.org)
As a businessman with twenty-five years non-profit experience in both the Boys & Girls Club movement, and as a Vice President of Resurce Development for Orange County's United Way, Bruce Hird, a graduate of Stanford University, is presently the Chief Professional Officer of the Boys & Girls Club of Buena Park. He has worked closely with Sean Foy, President, Personal Wellness Corporation, in the creation of several nutrition and fitness interventions, Project Sozo, for children and youth groupings 0 - 5, 6 - 11, and 12 - 16. Project Sozo literature is also being created to bring nutrition and fitness education to the parents of Boys & Girls Club members. Several Boys & Girls Club in Orange County are presently testing out the programs. The ultimate goal is to introduce structured nutrition and fitness prgramming to Boys & Girls Clubs across the nation. Bruce is happily married to his wife Susie for twenty-six years. He lives in Santa Ana. They have two children.

Coaching career began as a teenager in Panama (lifeguard, swim coach for children and youths); Continued coaching swimming and softball in the United States (softball coach/manager for elementary to college-aged levels); Board member at the local/league level; Amateur Softball Association (ASA) staff member: district commissioner, tournament director, players association representative, college network and scholarship fund originator, marketing director and deputy state commissioner for Southern California section.

Medical director of the Athletic Training Program at CSUF; One of three team physicians for Titan Athletics; Pediatrician with specialty training in sports medicine. Has done volunteer medical work at local high schools and with the Special Olympics.

Sport psychology consultant for various professional, Olympic, and collegiate sport teams including: U. S. Field Hockey, Water Polo, and Baseball; Anaheim Angels; University of Nebraska and Arizona State Football teams; Cal State Fullerton Baseball, Gymnastics, and Softball; and Long Beach State Baseball team; Conducted over 100 Sport Psychology Workshops nationally and internationally; Co-author of the book Heads-Up Baseball.
