Originally from New York City, Dr. Traci Statler received her undergraduate degrees from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and her Master’s degree in Kinesiology from Fullerton. She was then granted her Ph.D. in Exercise and Sport Sciences from the University of Utah, with a focus in applied sport psychology. She has been with the department of Kinesiology at CSUF since 2007, but had taught at other universities in California, South Carolina and Utah prior to her return to Fullerton. She has taught undergraduate classes in many elements of sport, including psychology, sociology, law, history, philosophy and coaching theory, and graduate courses in sport psychology and sport sociology. Dr. Statler has presented her research and experience at both the national and international level, including conferences of the International Society of Sport Psychology, the European Federation of Sport Psychology, the American College of Sport Medicine, and the Association of Applied Sport Psychology. Her research credits include chapters in several books on applied sport psychology, and articles in The Sport Psychologist and the Journal of Sport Behavior. Tied to her work as a sport psychology consultant for US Track and Field, she has also edited a book on applied sport psychology for elite level track and field athletes and coaches. In addition to consulting with USATF, Dr. Statler also works as a performance enhancement consultant for several collegiate athletic teams and individual performers in a variety of sport and non-sport settings. |
