Dr. Daniela Rubin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology. She obtained her Teaching Degree in Physical Education in her home-country Argentina. She graduated at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a M.A. in Exercise and Sport Science in the Specialization of Exercise Physiology in 2001, and with a PhD in Human Movement Sciences in 2005. While completing her studies she was involved with patient education at the Diabetes Clinic, community interventions for at risk youth in Chapel Hill, and a service learning program for Latino youth. After completing her doctorate, she stayed at UNC as a Visiting Assistant Professor where she was involved as a co-investigator in a multi-site center diabetes prevention trial in the middle schools working with physical activity and behavior (Studies to Prevent Pediatric Type 2 Diabetes). At UNC she taught human physiology, exercise physiology and laboratory assessment. Since she is at CSUF she was involved in the evaluation of an after-school program developed by Dr. Wiersma (Active Kids) and she is currently involved in three collaborations (see below). She is involved with the Diabetes Exercise and Sport Association, has been a member of American College of Sports Medicine, the North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine, and The Prader-Willi Syndrome USA Association. She is an active member of the Center for the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles and Obesity Prevention. |

Dr. Rubin is interested in the physiologic responses to exercise or the lack of it in children and adolescents, the role of physical activity in the prevention of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and hormonal responses to exercise in youth and adults. |
