Biosketch:

Dr. Carol Weinmann received her doctorate in sport psychology from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro and teaches the classes related to her area. She helps provide the students with the “cutting edge of knowledge” because she studies, reflects, evaluates and changes what they know. In the applied area of sport and exercise psychology, she has been able to consult with athletes, coaches, and business people in the work force to help develop personal growth and development and to enhance performance. Her own personal experience as a player, coach, and business woman has complemented her professional endeavors in teaching and scholarly and creative activities. She has been a member of many professional organizations and is starting her 35th year as a board member of the Southwest District American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Dr. Weinmann’s work is in print in a variety of professional journals and commercial publications. In the community she has been actively engaged as a leader who has given over 70 presentations, many relating to motivation and stress management to self-responsibility and self-esteem.

 
   
Interest area: The three areas of interest are: (1) enhancing performance, (2) person growth, and (3) self-regulation. The topics have ranged from coordination of group effort to the development of psychological and physical skills – specifically the use of communication and motivation and the understanding of self-esteem.
   
Current projects:

She is engaged in an endeavor to coordinate the biofeedback laboratory with the Performance Enhancement Center and other Centers. This will allow for interdisciplinary research on issues related to wellness, distress prevention and optimal performance.
