Fieldwork: An Integral Part of
Undergraduate Education in Human Services
The
Fieldwork Program in the Department of Human Services is one of few undergraduate human services programs on the West Coast that is approved by
the National Council on Standards in Human Services Education. The
internship experiences help the student to make a bridge between the
various theoretical perspectives and concepts that they hear about in the
classroom. Students will have the opportunity to experience three
fieldwork situations, each for 120 hours of supervised practice. Each
fieldwork agency has been approved by the Fieldwork Coordinator. The
benefits of working in the community are numerous and often result in
important professional connections as well as developing the students
sense of professional identity. Our goal is to provide a quality
fieldwork program that ensures the preeminence of learning for our
students.
