Robert Kersey grew up Santa Barbara, CA. and went on to study athletic training at Oregon State University. After graduating and becoming a certified athletic trainer, he began his graduate work at the University of Arizona. While in Tucson, he served as the athletic trainer for Santa Rita High School and finished his master’s degree. He became the head athletic trainer and a professor at Hartnell College in Salinas, CA. After many years he went on to earn his doctorate at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Kersey taught at San Jose State University prior to coming to California State University, Fullerton.
Dr. Kersey assumed the role of the Director of the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) in 1997. He currently oversees the day-to-day ATEP operations. His research interests include the use of ergogenic aids by athletes and pharmaceuticals / medications used in sports medicine.
Dr. Kersey enjoys music, travel, animals, fitness, reading, church, photography, and most any adventure that takes him to new places, trying new challenges, or meeting new people. He loves the outdoors and tries to maintain his fitness by cycling, running, and lifting.
